The wellness and fitness center is located in the 28,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art George F. Smith Center. This facility was
completed in 2008 and is named for the current athletic director and head football coach.
The wellness center is connected to the Bo Litzinger Raider weight room, allowing our student athletes to train in modern,
state-of-the-art facilities. The strength program has taken major steps with this addition. There is also a spin cycling and Pilates
room included in the wellness center. With ever evolving training regimens, this new facility allows our students, student
athletes, and faculty to practice a healthy lifestyle.
The Raider weight room is located in the Bo Litzinger Athletic Building. This 19,000 square-foot facility was constructed in 1982
and named for the man who served as the school’s athletic director for 37 years. The two-story building houses both boys and
girls locker rooms as well as a wrestling room and various coaching offices.
Groundbreaking took place on June 7, 1982 and construction was completed in late August. The building was constructed at a
cost of $280,000 and was financed with funds donated directly by alumni and friends of the school.
“The facility will improve our entire program and it will serve the students, the teachers, the alumni and the community,” said
athletic director George Smith at the groundbreaking ceremony. “To our knowledge, this will be the largest such facility in the
southeastern United States.”
