The 28,000 square-foot athletic center was completed in 2008 and is named for the current athletic director and head football
coach. The two-story facility includes boys and girls locker rooms, a fitness center, training and rehabilitation rooms and a video
The atrium lobby features a trophy case that displays past championships and includes a reception area that leads to the
athletic director’s suite. The project was announced in 2002 but ground wasn’t broken until late 2006. The construction was
financed with an extensive fundraising drive which included donations from alumni and friends of the school.
Many St. Thomas Aquinas athletes have been fortunate throughout the years to attend college by means of scholarships
awarded as a result of their outstanding athletic achievements and countless hours of dedication and training. After decades of
outstanding success from football, baseball, and soccer championships to state swimming titles, the Smith Center will ensure
the future for those following in our winning traditions – both academic and athletic.
